Grrrrrr! The School System is so Effed Up!!!!!

This sucks like so hardcore! I hate it so much. Matt and I were just walking to his car after school yesterday and these 4 guys were talking about this girl I recognized. She was obviously in a hurry so she told the boys to get out of her way. After that they continued to talk about her. They even started getting racist. By now they were WAY too loud and I was tired of it so to shut them up I made a comment about their pants being too low. After that they stopped picking on her and chose a new target: me.
Now they were making fun of me and Matt. Not really Matt though. They only said one thing that involved him. Which was, "Oh, look at me. I'm so tough with my boyfriend..." Then everything just escalated. After a whole racist clique comment towards me a sexual one was made. I remarked back with the simple, "I'd have to find them first!" What happened next was the biggest thing to do wrong in front of anyone's boyfriend.
One of the 4 guys said that I should know because they've already been in my mouth. That was the final straw for Matt. He turned around and as I was trying to not let him do anything he'd regret he was yelling, "Who said that?! Who the fuck said that about my girlfriend?!" One of the guys got into his face and as Matt pushed him out of his face he asked, "Was it you?!" With that the guy, who I later found out was a senior named Robert or Robbie, threw down his jacket. When his jacket hit the floor, the other 3 guys held Matt against the wall. Robert got one hit on Matt before I threw all 3 of them off of him.
Now the teacher comes up and tells Matt, Robert, and me to come with him. The other 3 guys only came back because they were Robert's ride. We sat in that office for like a hour and a half. Matt even had to call into work. But none of this is even the bad part.
Nothing was official until this morning. The part that is the worst is that Matt got 3 days of IV for "simple assault". Robert got the exact same punishment and the other 3 didn't get anything! That's not even fair! Yes, Matt did push Robert, but that shouldn't be 3 days of IV. And if that really was the punishment, then Robert should've gotten more of a punishment, especially because he's a repeat offender, and the 3 guys who helped should've gotten punished too. This is why I hate Warren so much sometimes.
I don't want to leave WCHS because of all the awesome opportunities that the school offers, but all the bad stuff that happens because people don't know how to behave is really ticking me off. Like, for instance, all the repeat offenders don't get any worse of a punishment than the first time offenders. What is there even discipline for if it doesn't teach you anything? If you just slap their hand and say, "Bad boy" and not do anything that will make them learn that what they're doing is actually is wrong, then they'll just keep doing it. I was always told that high school should get you ready for the real world, but that's not what they're doing. I've seen people taken away in handcuffs for far less. Robert almost had Matt jumped and he just gets 3 days of IV. That's when the system is failing.
Well enough of me talking. What do you think? Who was right? Who was wrong? Who should be punished? And how badly? Be completely honest and explain yourself. I write to vent, talk, and to see the opinion of the people.
